Here are some Miscellaneous topics you may find useful.
BB Codes:
This is the most important communication tool within Valor. It makes a hot link to player information, guild information or location information. There are 3 buttons at the bottom of every message or forum post you write. The buttons add a code to your message, you insert certain criteria and when you post or send the message it turns blue and allows players to jump to the deed you linked to.
To link Player Name the code is
[player]LOGIN[/player]
in login you type the player's full name as it shows in game.
Example [player]numberlord[/player]
To link Guild the code is
[guild]TAG[/guild]
the tag is found on the deed page of your guild it is usually between 3 and 6 characters.
Example [guild]abc143[/guild]
To link Location the code is
[coord]X,Y[/coord]
the X,Y is your number location found on every city or player deed. You need to put the comma, and for all there are NO spaces.
Example [coord]555,666[/coord]
Winks:
Winking is used by the leadership as a spy deterrent. It 'hides' a message in the guild forum from anyone but those who have promotion. To wink a message put >-< at the start of your message and when you press send it will appear that you sent nothing. To view a winked message you press Edit, then ONLY you and anyone else who has edit capabilities can read it. This is especially handy if you need to make an announcement to all ranked guild members but do not want the general public aware. It is handy for information you need kept for reference as a 3rd party chat room posts get lost quick with the amount of chit chat. It is also useful for sending 'canned' messages for recruiting and proposals for alliance or merger. These are things that sometimes hold sensitive information you don't want all guild mates to be able to view, read, or screen shot to post elsewhere if you happen to have a spy. It really sucks that it is sometimes necessary to play it safe, but the spy game is one used often.
Ranks:
Ranking system is important to spread the responsibility so one person doesn't get stuck doing all the heavy lifting. A guild should have 3 Crowns, 4 Generals and 2 Captains. This is based on a 60 member guild, the less players the less leaders you will need.
Faux Atks:
Fake attacks are beneficial as a strategy when you want to fool your prey into putting his def troops into one city while your real atk is elsewhere. To successfully use Faux Atks you can send 1 Ram in a wave. The intro of using gold to discover what troops are coming at you is new and will probably make the faux atk obsolete, but not everyone uses gold, and if you force your prey to spend his hard earned money then good for you!!
Another great way to use faux is to hide your real troops by slowing them down to make them look like rams. So if you send two waves of fake atks, one ram each wave then your third wave is your nuke wave, add one ram to slow it down, your prey will think its just another fake and not dodge the atk, effectively wiping his troops. to make this work really well send another fake atk of one ram to land right after your nuke does, he'll think the 4th wave is the real one and still do nothing.
Forum Setup:
After being in several guilds I can say that communication is key for success. If your forum is cluttered and hard to navigate then ppl won't read it. I've found a nice lean way to keep ppl interested and make sure its easy enough for the lazy to play as well.
- Comms Forum - this is for the chatty. You put a welcome thread so everyone signs in and posts where they are from, an Announcement Thread for leaders to post important announcements (this thread is usually locked so only leaders may post there). A chat room that is maintained by your forum maintenance person, this can be left out if you institute a third party chat program like Kakao Talk, Quirki or Palringo. Location Thread where everyone in the guild posts their Location in BB code, adding every new city they conquer as they go. This is beneficial to your leaders for attack strategy. Anything else you can think of to add is fine, Comms is for communication.
- War Forum - This is for Combatant City Claims, Support Requests and Target Assignment. I usually limit War Forum to these three, and keep discussions about war to the Comms Forum.
- Claims Forum - This is for non combatant city claims to avoid cross claims with sister guilds or friendly fire within guild. Everyone should post their claim prior to launch of cc - also a general should be assigned to monitor these claims to make sure that people are claiming, and to make ruling on any property disputes within the guild and enforce any standard rules the guild has set.
- Roll Call - Activity can be a make or breaker, its important to know that ppl are logging on and following along. I usually do roll call every 3 or 4 days, I give ppl a time limit then if they miss 2 roll calls they are private messaged by the general in charge of activity and if they don't respond in 24 hours they are booted. I also house the "vacation" thread here where ppl can post if they are not going to be able to check the forums for any length of time to post there to let the leadership know.
- I loath Roll Call. I've found a better way to stimulate activity and that is to post in lue of Roll Call an Achievement Forum. Within this forum I post city level achievements like 2000 point city and when people reach the mark, they post. I also add later on a kill score achievement forum and a Trophy Thread where people can post the list of the dead, like mounting a rack on the wall when you kill a buck. It is a good morale booster and allows crowns to keep track of who is doing what AND gets people logging in!!
- Guild Market - There is a 14 day delay to send resources to another player, in every world, but once the ban has been lifted it is good to have your guild trade with each other. No sense using the World Market you are just helping a stranger get stronger, why not see if you can help your mates. I always put an Excess thread for ppl to post who have an abundance of any one resource. Excess is gifted, no trade necessary. Why not send resources you can't currently use to someone in your guild who needs them? Helping make your guild mates stronger makes you stronger.
**BFC is no longer a game option since the introduction to Truce that can be purchased with gold**
Battlefield Chaos (BFC): This is a game glitch that allows you to protect your newly conq'd city from being taken back from the victim you just ganked it from. How it works; Any one city can only ever have 40 incoming attacks, no matter how many troops are in each wave, the city only has 40 available slots. If all 40 slots are used, anyone else who tries to send an attack at that city, will get an error message saying there is chaos on the battlefield and to try again later. They will not be able to send any attacks to that city until a slot frees up. Now, any one city has only 25 available Commander Slots to send atks out so to achieve BFC you'll need two cities at least. (I usually assign 4 to do 10 waves each achieving 40 easily) Have each person participating send ONE single RAM attack (rams bcs they are the slowest and you'll keep the target city in chaos longer) a total of 10 waves per city - this way the person providing the chaos can still have 15 open slots to farm and or have trip wires, or support to their guild mates. It is customary for the person who receives chaos to repay the resources spent by the persons providing chaos to replace the rams used, but that's up to the leadership to decide. The further the better so you pair up with a sister guild, or a trusted ally willing to provide chaos for your guild. I usually set up a Chaos Thread in the Comms Forum and assign a point of contact, one or two ppl who are relatively active who will be able to respond to Chaos Requests sent by your sister or allied guilds. Its their job to post chaos needs in the Chaos Thread and monitor and make sure the requested city stays in chaos until they can be supported by their own guild mates.
Cleaning Crew (cc): Cleaning crew gets used a lot, what it is comprised of is your attack troops. Your Zerks, Knights, Guards and Rams. This is sent ahead of your scholar crew to wipe out any troops your prey has in his city before your scholar gets there. It is customary to send an additional cc wave to land just before each of your scholar waves.
Activity: It is important to keep your activity up but if you are not a leader twice a day to monitor your cities and check the guild forum is plenty. It is not up to the leadership to chase after you to check the guild forum, if you don't participate, the leadership notices, they will remove you and take your cities if you don't do your part.
